According to a report from Argonaut News, Dr. S. Adam Ramin, a urologic surgeon at Saint Johns Health Center in Santa Monica who has testified as an expert witness in Da Vinci robot laws uits, maintains that many of the Da Vinci robot surgery complications seen in these procedures are due to a lack of surgical training with the robot. He added that in most cases, surgeons need 20 supervised surgeries with the Da Vinci robot in order to become proficient with the technology. Dr. Ramins comments came just days after Intuitive Surgical acknowledged that it had been named in at least 33 Da Vinci robot lawsuits, some of which allege serious personal injuries due to the companys failure to properly train surgeons on the machine.
